ABSTRACT

Lutron is lighting systems and controls company, having done work for many upscale clients such as black rock and selling top lighting solutions and switches to cosumers.

Here is somework Ive done as a Junior Graphic Designer in contract with lutron.

Below of 5 featured projects I had the most involvement in/created within the NYCO Lutron team in response to in-house stakeholders project requests.

1. Global Visitor Brochure Template Design

Brief/Challenge

Create a global visitor guide brochure for Lutron’s international locations—designed to orient visitors while maintaining brand consistency across corporate, warehouse and other Lutron locations.
Process:

  • Developed three creative directions aligned with Lutron’s brand principles, including one more adventurous concept that pushed visual boundaries.

  • Presented all directions to the Art Director and Senior Designer under the 2D Design team.

  • Designed a full icon system to enhance usability and visual clarity.

  • Refined and finalized the selected direction for digital and potential print distribution.

Result:

A cohesive, brand-driven visitor guide balancing functionality and elegance—approved for global use and praised for its clarity and refined design system.

Presented Directions

Based on lutron brand characteristics of a desire to continue a rational, elegant and playful brand.
This was to redesign a brochure they currently had for their Coopersburg,PA location.

See presentation here

Rational

Structured approach mirroring older Lutron Brochure designs which has structured color and headers.
Elegant

Mirroring the current UX of the website (small lines and white backgrounds) with light typography
Playful

Using the logo in a new way ( using the starburst shape as a image container) and using more range in the Lutron blue

Final

Below are the brochures I completed for the first 9 planned locations. The template is to roll out all 50 of their locations globally.mys The stakeholders enjoyed the playful layout the most. In this design the idea is that each location starts with a cover page full bleed image of the location, then changing the imagery, icons and body copy throughout for each one. Worked in collaboration with the copy team on each location. Sourced maps online and using google earth for the map of the location page.

Given that the text was rather minimal, using this sort of sizeable container was to make the text a callout that can adapt to any amount of text per brochure while being able to adapt to the varying locations’ information and maintain readability.

Icons I developed for specific topics:

Pacemaker
Earthquake (Destroyed Building)
Clothing

Final Global Visitor Brochure Template for all 40+ Lutron Locations - Digital Brochure

Full bleed Cover page + Location image
Page 1 with basic information. Full Bleed image of the location (inside or out) using Lutron logo as a framing device.
Page 2 Safety page. Using one of Lutron’s rarely used shade of Lutron blue as background color. Using starburst shape ( a piece of the logo) as a framing device for imagery in this section. A piece of the place.
Page 3. Includes any other specific information on the location, back to full bleed background.
Page 4. Emergency Procedures per building. Full Bleed imagery for the map and use of Lutron icons created by Henry Minis, another contractor, and some of my own made for specific topics.

2. Climate Week Showcase Event  Promotional Poster

Brief/Challenge

Designed a large-format (18x24) poster for
Climate Week NYC
to highlight Lutron’s “Smart Buildings & Emerging Tech” initiative in collaboration with the Building Energy Exchange.  The piece needed to balance sustainability messaging with strong visual presence for display at the event.

Process:

  • Proposed six initial design concepts exploring layout, color, and hierarchy.

  • Collaborated with the Art Director and internal stakeholders to refine one selected direction.

  • Produced six final variations for review and print approval.

  • Ensured brand alignment, legibility, and visual consistency across event materials.

Result:
The chosen design was printed and showcased at Climate Week NYC, praised for its clarity, modernity, and alignment with Lutron’s sustainable brand identity.

Six Initital Drafts + Chosen Direction

Given copy was still in the works, I worked roughly with the brief and presented ideas that could be more expressive. In this, after working with the copy team to finalizen the 5 different topics for copy, we went with a structured layout.

Chosen direction + Variations for final

Design Objective: Connect climate theme and lutron branding in a clean manner. In these designs I was looking to see how to bring in green from the sponsor logo together with the idea of the climate, and lighting. Wheter thats visual hints to spots of light or using different image treatments.

Final Design

Out of the drafts this one is what was chosen by the stakeholder. The green pattern was created by myself in illustrator as a symbolic pattern of the merging or Lutron modern technology and the topic of Climate.

The poster includes Lutrons case studies on Lutron products used in smart buildingd and the emerging technology Lutron has that aids in the cause.

3. NYCO In office Posters

Brief

Objective was to design posters specifically for the NYC office for Lutron. Focusing on the 3d renders created by the team and on Lutron products. In-house meant for in office use only. 32x50 inch posters

Some of the Proposed concepts

Playing with lutrons relationship with New York. Hand is from old Lutron posters in ads they created in the 1900s.

Poster Currently used in collab with team

In my drafts I included the imagery used on the right. Made in collaboration with the team. Included the idea to use icons to label products used in these product renderings.

32x50 Inch Posters printed in office.

4. Digital Invitation for Lutron 2025 Excellence Award Luncheon

Print Invite sample

Excellence Awards Print invite. stakeholders asked for a golden older designt they had to be updated, keeping the emblems created and using this molten golden image. I extended the golden image with Ai in photoshop to better envelope the typography in the updated design.

My second idea was to make it more a subdued elevated feel in the second one.

Stakeholder chosen the updated version of their requested- the golden imagery.

5. Print Design for Lutron Products + Social Graphics

In some instances I would be asked to design postcards to be used in pop up events for Lutron’s upcoming products, including appropriate campaign imagery and Qr codes related to the products for scanning.

Social graphics used for Lutron Amazon webpages and ads.
( Still and simple animation)
